Mass Immigration – show me the benefits
It had to happen eventually, the time had to arrive when I felt it was necessary to write about this super sensitive topic. I feel a slight trepidation for the first time I touched an issue related to race, I was cancelled and my life was never the same again. But as my first book explores, a life of cowardice is not worth living.
Let me try to protect myself a little by saying I am the son of a poor immigrant. My father came to the UK to contribute to the country so it would be even greater than when he arrived. Is this true? Of course, it is not. My father, like virtually all immigrants, came to the UK so they could better their own lives – purely selfish reasons. Who in their right mind thinks that immigrants travel across continents for altruistic reasons? We cannot have a serious discussion about immigration because the myths and lies get in the way. The Windrush generation did not come to the UK to help rebuild it after the war, they came for the same reasons as my dad - in search of a better life and they got it. They were economic migrants.
Has mass immigration benefited the UK? This is a serious question for I see no benefits from where I am standing, only a list of negatives. If there are benefits then why can I not point to them? Why are pro-immigration advocates not shouting about the obvious, tangible benefits? All we ever hear is that 'diversity is our strength' – this is meaningless. I understand why people do not want to talk about the negatives for the racist card still has some power to destroy. This power is diminishing for it has been overplayed. But I cannot understand why people do not talk about the positives unless, of course, they do not exist.
Immigrants come from all over the world to the UK, they are as different from each other as can be. They only have one thing in common, they want a better life – who can blame them for this quest? This leads to the question of why are so many countries failing to deliver what their people want? My answer will not be popular. It is clear that failing countries are run by failing governments, who are made up of the people, and these people are influenced by their culture. Countries do not fail by themselves, the culture in these countries plants the seed of their own failure.
People argue that war, famine and dictators are the real problems, or that the West meddles in these countries and this is the real cause of the failure. There is some truth in this reasoning, but it does not explain the full problem. An inadequate culture for the modern world leads to a country with all the above outcomes, the issues are just symptoms of something much deeper.
Now, I must make clear before I am arrested for hate crimes, that I am talking about culture, not individual people. I know many immigrants and children of immigrants - I am one. They are decent lovely people, just like most people I know. This article is about mass immigration, not individual immigrants.
Let us have a look at some of the unintended consequences of opening up our country to almost anyone in the world to make their home if they can get here.
We are constantly told that without immigration many jobs would not be filled because British people will not do them. This is partially true, but not as straightforward as it sounds. Having a cheap supply of foreign labour keeps wages low for there is no need to increase the financial incentive to attract new employees – supply and demand. When the economy is flourishing the government can easily pay-off people not to work – we have millions of people claiming state handouts who could and should be working. An oversupply of cheap labour also stops businesses from investing in technology and automation, which leads to better quality jobs with higher wages. Immigration is a bad deal for poor, low-skilled British people.
We do not even enjoy the benefits of the money earned by immigrants being reinvested into our economy. In 2018, the UN stated that £8 billion is sent overseas every year by migrants working in the UK. This is a huge benefit to these countries and individual families, but it does nothing for the UK economy.
The NHS is always mentioned as a beneficiary of immigration for they hire nurses and doctors from all over the world. The usual mantra is that without foreign labour the NHS would collapse – this is partially true. The reason is consecutive governments have relied on raiding foreign countries of their medical staff as a quick fix to the staff issues of the NHS. There is never any long-term planning of what is required in the medium term and then training our people to do the jobs. So we just steal nurses from poorer countries – our recruitment policy harms the third world.
Do not forget that immigrants use the NHS for treatment and this is an added strain on an already failing system. It is not just common ailments that need treating but new illnesses such as sickle cell that affect black people. Many serious baby birth defects are in the Pakistani community because of inter-cousin marriage. The NHS also spends money on treating acid burns and knife wounds which are directly related to immigration.
My father and family also brought their burdens to the NHS to treat. Our gift was entrenched alcoholism with all its related medical issues. An extra irony was that most of my immigrant family worked cash-in-hand, so did not contribute to paying for the NHS.
Let us have a look at Albanians for they are white Europeans and safe ground to begin a discussion on crime. Most people could not find Albania on a map if they tried – it is north of Greece on the Adriatic coast. Albanian organised criminal gangs are rife throughout Europe and in the UK, they sell guns and drugs and are involved in human trafficking. They are serious people, involved in serious violent crimes. Many of our foreign prisoners are Albanian, we deport them as quick as we can and they just come back illegally. They are a clear and present danger to law and order within the UK. I worked alongside the National Crime Agency to tackle one of these gangs in Greater Manchester, it was some real James Bond type of stuff.
The Roma have been persecuted across Europe for centuries so many took the opportunity to come to the UK when Romania and Bulgaria joined the EU. What did we see when the Roma hit our shores? Pick pocketing and distraction thefts shot up. When I ran Manchester city centre, we had dozens of pickpockets targeting shoppers in the busy streets and shops. Visitors would have phones stolen and handbags would disappear in coffee shops. With the use of CCTV we caught many perpetrators, almost all were Roma.
I remember a price war among the prostitutes who plied their trade at the back of Piccadilly train station. Romanian girls (not necessarily Roma) had moved into this area and started charging £5 for a blowjob or £7 for full sex. The long-established prostitutes were not happy to see their profit margins take a huge tumble. We feared violence and reprisals, but it never happened. Why? The new girls had pimps to protect them, the British girls had not needed pimps for a long time.
During this time, I remember a warning to police officers to be alert when arresting Roma women. Some were smearing their fingers with vaginal excretion and wiping it on the hands and clothes of arresting police officers. A claim of sexual assault would be made in the hope of not being prosecuted. This worried many male police officers and made them think twice before making an arrest, this was probably the intention.
Do you know which ethnic group is the most overrepresented in jail? Irish travellers. This fact usually upsets the race-baiters, but it is true. Irish Lives Matter. Many within this community are heavily involved in crime as a way of life, it is not politically correct to say such a thing, but a decade spent reducing crime tells another story.
Much of the street violence in my lifetime has been perpetrated by young black men, just look at who is doing the stabbing in London and other cities. Black men are overrepresented in violent crime, street robberies and gun crime. We all know this to be true, but again, we are terrified to say it out loud. This is why no one is seriously trying to stop young black men from dying on our streets in pools of their own blood.
The UK has a problem with witchcraft imported from Christian Africa, it is so serious that the police have teams working on it. The victims of this practice are mainly children who are abused and even murdered for being possessed by evil spirits. Islam also has similar beliefs, mystical Jinns are capable of causing physical and mental harm to human beings. A terrible case of two sisters murdered in a London park was directly related to the murderer making a deal with a Jinn.
If we are going to talk about violent crime then we have to mention terrorism, and today there is only one group committing such barbaric acts. Twenty-two people, nearly all children, were blown up at the end of my street in Manchester a few years ago – I heard the explosion. This terrorist was born in Libya but taken in by the UK as a child, along with his family. He went to school here and enjoyed all the benefits of this fantastic country. But one day, he decided it was not good enough so carried a bomb into a music concert. This is how he thanked the British people for granting him and his family political asylum.
Radical Islam is a problem in the UK, everyone knows it, but we have not yet got to a point where we are willing to admit it and do what needs to be done. It is going to take a lot more dead children before we risk being called hurty words. Let us not even delve into rape gangs, honour killings and genital mutilation.
Crime is committed by all groups of people, we have never had a crime-free society. Several of my immigrant family have committed crimes and even spent time in jail, one of my uncles committed suicide in Strangeways prison. Criminality is a human trait, not a foreign one. We should not be importing additional criminals into the UK as if we have a shortage, we have enough of our own to be tackling. How do we decide before entry who is a criminal? We cannot. That is why it is so important we have the ability to deport foreign criminals as quickly as possible. Unfortunately, we do not have this ability due to the European Court of Human Rights.
When immigrants arrive in a new country they naturally want to be near people like them, who speak the same language and share the same culture. We all understand there is safety in numbers. This is understandable but it is not beneficial. In the long term, it creates ghettos where failing cultures are practised and inherited by the next generation. This is the template of our multiculturalism experiment - different cultures live side by side, hardly interact and never integrate. This leads to tribalism and fear of the outsider. It is perplexing to think that anyone thought multiculturalism was a good idea – history teaches it always leads to violence. We have areas now in the UK that are dominated by particular ethnic groups with no sign of integration or assimilation into British culture. This is a recipe for disaster.
I know many children of immigrants who feel British, but not all feel this way. We have sections of our populace who dress as if they are citizens of a foreign land. The message this sends is that they are different, separate and not British. Many children of immigrants are raised as if not British, I am not sure if this is intentional or not.
I remember chatting to my friends at the start of the first Gulf War, we discussed what we would do if conscripted to fight. The conversation took a silly turn as the alcohol flowed and we joked about who we should invade next. When Ireland was mentioned, my friend said he would fight against the British in this instance. We were all puzzled and asked him to explain for he was British. He said both his parents were Irish and came to the UK before he was born. He said he felt Irish, not British. This blew my mind and still does. How does a child who is born in the UK, lives all their life in the UK, enjoys all the benefits of living in the UK, think they are not British and would fight against their own country? We see the same when Brits support foreign national sports teams or have foreign flags in their social media bio. Very unpatriotic and highlights their feeling of not belonging.
Mass immigration has been a good thing for the millions of individuals who left their country to seek a better life, but it has not benefited host countries. The experiment has now been run, we have the data, and it is time to stop.
